Reported inflation figures can be hard to interpret by non-experts. In this brief note we attempt to explain the different official measurements of inflation and their underlying trend, in particular following successively enacted economic reforms/measures including the EGP floatation, Value-added Tax (VAT) enactment as well as the increase in administered prices of fuel products, utilities, medications and selected food items.
