Summary

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has recently published data on the performance of the Balance of Payments (BOP) in Q3 2017/18, Egypt’s Balance of Payments improved by 35.5% in Q3 2017/18 (Jan-Mar 2018) to record a net inflow of USD 5.38 bn; compared to a net inflow of USD 3.97 bn in Q3 2016/17 (Jan-Mar 2017). Such improvement was mainly brought about by 37.8% improvement in the Current Account; which recorded an outflow (deficit) of USD 1.93 bn compared to a higher outflow of USD 3.10 bn a year earlier. The Capital & Financial account improved by only 3.1% to record an inflow of USD 8.62 bn compared to USD 8.36 bn a year earlier.
